I am graduating senior at UCB. To describe a bit about myself, I have done several software work over the last 4 years. I've interned in two different large companies over the last 4 years. My biggest interests relating to software would be big data and mobile computing. In my spare time, I like to play soccer and watch sports. I've lived in several places, mostly in Southern California. I like reading books, hiking, and spending time with friends. I hope to have fun semester with you guys!

Introduction

ReplyDeleteI am always confused whenever people asked me if I am doing Big Data or machine learning. I get a little bit taste of what machine learning is like in CS188 (Artificial Intelligence), but am never able to gasp the clear picture of it in terms of real application. Maybe it's me lacking the practical experience with those terms. If you have more interest in those field, would you mind sharing your take on these two topics?
BTW, I am also a graduating senior! I congratulate you few months earlier, hope you enjoy your last stay at Cal.

Hi Dong! I am also a graduating senior, so let's definitely make the most of our last semester at Cal! What are the companies you interned at and what interests you about mobile computing and big data? Did you know that there is a big data class at Berkeley (IEOR 190C) where you work in teams to complete a project of your choice using Big Data and compete against each other. If you haven't taken it yet, I think you will find it really interesting (although, you would have to enroll in it ASAP this semester). What type of sports do you watch and where do you like to go for hiking? During my last semester, I definitely want to visit more hiking trails in Berkeley!

ReplyDeleteIt's awesome to find someone else that came from Southern California! I do believe your strong interest in software should make this class interesting for you. I would love to know your experience with the different companies you worked for. It will be interesting to learn more about the relevance of patents to specific software. I look forward to being in this class and hope you enjoy it as well.
